A Glimpse of Greatness Swami Dayananda Saraswati
Bhagavad Gita and the ten principal Upanishads as commented upon by Adi Shankaracharya. These and selected ancillary texts are analysed and taught along with Sanskrit grammar in the Paninian style. Vedic chanting is also taught during courses. Based entirely on the traditional insight of great sages, yet contemporary in his approach, Swami Dayananda continuously adapts his teaching style to ensure that the vision of Vedanta is clearly communicated and relevant to the needs of the modern world. Impeccable logic, brilliant analysis, erudition, precise use of language, together with a child-like sense of humour, make him the greatest living master of Traditional Advaita Vedanta. more on Pujya Swami Dayananda here: http://www.advaita.org.uk/
Swami Vagishananda is a senior disciple of Swami Dayananda Saraswati and has been studying and teaching Vedanta and Vedic Chanting for the past 35 years. When Swamiji was in his teens he was fascinated with mystical poetry and non-dual philosophies. Once being accepted to a traditional course of study with Shree Swami Dayananda Saraswati in 1975 at the age of 19, he left college and went to India. He graduated from an intensive 3-year residential course in Vedanta Sanskrit and Vedic chanting. During this period he studied all Major Upanishads, Bhagavadgitaa , Brahma Sutras, Sanskrit Paniniya Grammar and Shiksaa Phonetics, one on one with Vedic Pandits practiced Sri Rudra Prasnam (the most revered and exalted Vedic prayer) and the main Vedic Suktas Mantras and Upanishads in the traditional manner, under Swami Paramarthananda, a fellow student and master of Vedic Chanting. Later While living and teaching in a Hindu temple in Flint Michigan he was blessed with daily private classes in Sanskrit phonetics and advanced chanting for two years under the renowned Vedic pandit Ganapathigal Ravichandran Aiyar. Perfecting the South Indian Krsna Yajur Vedic style of his Guru he was given formal permission to teach all that he has learned. He was a staff member in the four subsequent 3 year courses taught by Swami Dayananda in the United States and India in which he taught Vedic chanting to the resident students, serving his teacher in many and varied ways he continued studying and teaching Sanskrit and advanced Vedanta texts.
Over the years he has traveled extensively and conducted many children’s camps, adult seminars, and Vedanta classes in the United States, Canada, England, Australia and Brazil. He is a master of the Sanskrit language and an accomplished teacher of Vedanta in the traditional methodology called Sampradaaya. He has imbibed and assimilated many qualities of his Revered Guru, which manifest in his person and reflect in his teaching style.
Radha (Carol Whitfield Ph.D.) studied Advaita Vedanta and Sanskrit with Swami Dayananda Saraswati in India during the 1970’s. Since returning from India, she has taught Vedanta extensively on both coasts. She is a university professor and a Jungian-oriented clinical psychologist. She now teaches Vedanta in Berkeley California.
Radhaji is a faculty member at the California Institute of Integral Studies for the East-West Psychology Department. She is a Jungian-oriented clinical psychologist and has a private practice in Berkeley, California.
The way in which she unfolds this timeless self-knowledge is exquisite. Easy to understand without compromising with the tradition and you can feel when you sit in her presence that she taps into a vast ocean of clarity and wisdom that really conveys to you the core of what all yoga really is about.
To balance the strong teaching classes she also invites us into profound guided meditations where your inner child gets to relax and feel nourished.
Her life-long experience in the field of Jungian psychology is a true blessing that grounds the teachings and makes them possible to integrate in a whole new way.
